A wireless mouse connects to the device via radio frequencies, with some models requiring a USB dongle to receive the signal while others connect directly via Bluetooth. For those connecting via Bluetooth, enable Bluetooth connectivity on your laptop, search for the device in settings, click on your mouse's name, and follow the prompts to complete the pairing. You can also test the connection by moving the mouse, and if the cursor responds, you're good to go. If using a dongle, remember it usually pairs on its own the first time you turn on the mouse. 

How long a mouse lasts, whether wired or wireless, depends on the type, quality, and usage. On average, wireless mice tend to last up to 5 years, particularly for models with replaceable (AA or AAA) batteries. The ones with built-in rechargeable batteries often become unusable much earlier because of the limited charging cycle that lithium-based batteries have. On the bright side, almost all wireless mice in the market come with a one-year warranty, with some brands extending to three-year warranties for the more premium models.
